This is not a new story. Many bands at some point in time meet a wall and fall. And many bands do not get up again. Figurines did not fall, though they were off balance, artistically somewhat against the prevailing wind of the time, and not well financially speaking, all this only served to force them to ask themselves why they were doing what they were doing, making music, in a band even, and want to do it. The band’s second record “Skeleton” from 2005 is reckoned by many to be one of the best in modern Danish rock. The album achieved massive international acclaim and as a result the band went out into the wider world, touring with Kaiser Chiefs, Tapes ‘n’ Tapes and Cold War Kids amongst others. Their self titled fourth album is a development of their assurance and sheer musical quality that affords the band a special status amongst their Danish peers. On the new record the powerful songwriting of “Skeleton” is combined with some of the best elements of the dynamic soundscapes of earlier work “When The Deer Wore Blue”.
