After nearly five years of recording sessions in his studio, Bergen native Alexander von Mehren is finally ready with what will be his debut L.P. “Aéropop” is mixed by John McEntire alongside von Mehren himself and will be released in 2011. Genrewise von Mehren could be described as maximalist alt. pop, creating varied and exquisitely mixed soundscapes of lively instrumentation topped off with vocals delivered in both French and English. Von Mehren, who has been playing music since the age of four, not only composed, arranged and produced “Aéropop” but also played most of the parts. There record though is not without outside input, with contributions from members of The High Llamas, Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist and Orwell. He himself has previously played either live or in the studio with the likes of Bobby Hughes Combination, Kinny & Horne, Orwell, Chris Joss, Le Futur Pompiste, William Hut, Hypertext, The Alexandria Quartet and The Sheriff. On stage von Mehren has a strong team of musicians around him who played their first show together to a totally sold out Landmark, in Bergen, at the end of 2009.
