Pascal Pinon are twins Jófríður and Ásthildur, two girls from Reykjavik in Iceland. When they were just fourteen they started a band with a couple of friends, using whatever instruments they had, working on their project in the twins’ bedroom. They played their first ever show in that very same room and called it “The Friendly Concert”. Within a few short months the fledgling band had played a bunch of local clubs and decided to begin work on their first album. They borrowed a house in a small town called Vogar and recorded their self titled debut with only one microphone. The result is enchanting. From the off it is clear that this is a really special record, a twee mixture of neo-folk and low-fi pop, an entertaining picture of what teenage life is like. The record earned Pascal Pinion a nomination for best Icelandic newcomer in 2009. Now Morr Music, a label which has always had a special connection to the Icelandic scene, will see release this exceptional record out into the wider world.
