Sassybeat are two girls in their teens and a drummer. Doesn’t sound particularly exciting on paper perhaps, but don’t let their age or apparently simple set up fool you, we’re talking about a band here with talent that could not in any way be described as “ordinary”. And it isn’t just about their amazing vocal harmonies, delivered in the best ABBAesque tradition, they are also able to create songs that render even established pop artists green with envy. You only have to listen to “The Mouse and the Bear”, written by a girl who had literally only just become a teenager and complete with a home made video, filmed in their kitchen in Asker, to understand. The band have already had positive results from their involvement in UKM (a kind of youth culture competition) and a recommendation from NRK Urørt. They have also been signed to Universal Music. Live the band now include violin and electric sax in addition to their guitars, bass, keyboard and drums set up. The band plan to play more shows, write more songs and get more fans. None of which should represent a problem. “I really liked the show. I’ve listened to all their tracks online. Really good.” – Anne Lise Frøkedal, Harrys Gym / I Was A King “Excellent songs with great feeling.” – Ingeborg Selnes “I think they’re fucking great! That track about the mouse and the bear is sick.” – Matias Tellez, NRK Urørt winner
