Kristine Marie Aasvang sings, plays guitar / flute and writes her own material. She’s always felt a yearning to sing, but didn’t pluck up the courage before being forced to, in music classes at high school whilst she was learning the flute. But as time wore on, it was singing that became her main focus rather than the flute. Kristine Marie then started to play guitar when she began to create her own songs and in 2007 she played her first show of her own material. Since then, Kristine Marie Aasvang has played all over Norway on her own and also with the band Electric Teepee. Her main inspirations are drawn from the world of folk music and classic female vocalists like Joni Mitchell, Melanie Safka, Bjørk, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. Unique voices which all have so much to communicate through not only their lyrics buy also their distinctive sound. By day Kristine Marie studies audio engineering at Kunstakademiet in Trondheim. By night she’s holed up at Kitchen Studio and is planning to release a record in the very near future.
