The Turns began life at the beginning of the noughties as a sort of progressive mod / punk band who released one self titled E.P. in 2003. Since then the band disintegrated and songwriter / arranger / producer / vocalist Anders Tjore has, in conjunction with Are Føreland, Harald Bugge and Magnus Hængsle, worked on an album that is nigh on free of pop references, but all the same an unforgettable pop record that is like nothing else ever released in Norway. The recording was made with a strict Dogme type ethos, protocols including no synths, no open hi-hats, no guitar overdubs and involves both string sections and woodwind. These considered compositions are topped off with the voices of two of Norway’s best vocalists with pathos being the rule rather than the exception. The album is slated for January 2011 through Voices Of Wonder and tour dates will follow. The band is comprised of Anders Tjore, Magnus Hængsle, Karim Sayed (BigBang / Salvatore / Marit Larsen), Christian Engfelt (Cato Salsa Experience /BigBang ++), alongside Harald Bugge and Are Føreland.
