With music inspired by heroes of yesteryear like Henrix, The Stones, Zeppelin and The Beach Boys, Surfers Lingo were the youngest ever winners of the prestigious Rock Against Drugs competition at Andøya in 2008. This past summer the trio from Solvær won the NRK Urørt under 16 competition for young bands at Mini Øya (Øya festival’s underage event) and on the back of that in Autumn 2010 released their debut single “Peach Pelican” on EMI, the prize for their Mini Øya win. “The shows at Mini Øya and Øya itself, and not least recording the single, have been like a fairy tale for us” the boys from Surfers Lino recall. “Peach Pelican is actually rather more poppy than we usually are” remarks vocalist Sigve, who’s looking forward to the release and a full diary of shows in the Autumn. This promising band have at the time of writing already got 40 shows in their native Nordland under their belts and now have their sights on the rest of the country. “We play because we want to have fun, and having fun is exactly what we’re going to keep on doing” says Isak.
