Team Me was originally conceived as a solo project for one Marius Drogås Hagen, but as the project began to take shape, the band ballooned to a six piece. The alt pop band’s locus is acoustic, but built on that are many layers of rich, beautiful orchestration that render it unforgettable. The band are often compared top the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective, Jonsi and Arcade Fire, who are all big influences on the band. Team Me were one of the finalists at NRK Urørt’s 2010 competition but in contrast to the other acts up for the gong, who all had plenty of gigs behind them, this was Team Me’s debut show. Reactions surpassed all expectations and throughout the Spring of 2010 their track “Fool” was played regularly on NRK P3. Simultaneously, the band began to attract international attention from overseas radio stations and the wider blogosphere. Summer 2010 saw the release of their second single “Weathervanes and Chemicals” and a comprehensive festival run including two packed out shows at Oslo’s Øya festival, which saw all-together positive reviews from the attending foreign press. In the Autumn, the band played their first UK shows before going into the studio to record their first EP for release in January 2011. “‘Weathervanes and Chemicals’, is really, really rather wonderful.
