AcACc is a new project helmed by Jan Martin Smørdal who’s previously worked under the moniker Acousitic Accident (a 15 piece orchestra) releasing “q.s.” on the AIM label in 2004. Now working on new material, slated for release in the spring, you could speculate that AcACc is in danger of being labeled a kind of “comeback” but it’s really more of a “come” with a new variation of an old band. The music is entirely instrumental veering between the riff heavy and the free, and all written by Smørdal. The project features musicians who’ve worked with In the Country, Susanna Wallumrød, Blokk 5, Ingrid Olava and Solveig Slettahjel amongst others, whilst Smørdal himself has played with the likes of Hanne Hukkelberg, Rockettothesky (also as producer), Torgny Amdam and Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen. Alongside he’s also found time to work as a composer and arranger for everything from NRK’s in house orchestra and the Solis Choir to Ensemble neoN amongst others. AcACc themselves feel that they’ve come up with something fresh, new and rather easy on the ear have they not?
