Originally hailing from the province of Hedmark, the now Oslo based band Tombstones play quality hard rock of roughest kind. The band have played together for six years or there abouts and have a long history of shows both in Norway and Sweden behind them. In October their album “Volume II” came out on Swedish label Transubstans Records and now puts them on a par with Swedish hard rock bands like Graveyard and Abramis Brama. The record was recorded by production legend Billy “Engine-Ear” Anderson who has produced some of the last decade’s best hard rock records and has worked with the likes of The Melvins, Sleep and Electric Wizard. The band consider “Volume II” as a nine track demonstration of how heavy rock should be played in 2010. The record was recorded totally live and analogue and will be loved by rock fans with a weakness for that warm, valve sound. And it is a massive sound, atmospheric and melancholy, evocative of some of the historic high points of the genre and emblematic of the fog drifting out from Hedmark’s dark forests.
