With a background in hardcore punk, amongst others as vocalist for the respected band Amulet, Torgny Amdam has now taken a gone on to become a solo artist in his own right under the moniker Torgny. The debut album “Chameleon Days” was released in late Autumn 2010, and was described as something completely original that you want to listen to again and again. It is dark and melodic avant-garde pop that looks equally toward European electronic music as it does to American art-rock. “With no respect for genre boundaries, a curiosity and willingness to experiment with new instruments, Torgny marks himself to be a distinctly different pop artist” wrote the influential NRK Lydverket. Whilst Sudvest wrote “Versatile. Different. Recommended.” And musiknyheter.no described the record as “One of the most exciting Norwegian releases of 2010.” Torgny has an ongoing collaboration with director Emil Trier on a video trilogy to accompany the record as if that was not enough they won “Best Scandinavian Music Video” at the Bergen International Film Festival in 2010 for “The Only Game”. Torgny delivered the goods live, making his debut at Øya last year, his unique live show is the meeting point between performance art, emotive lighting design and raw musical delivery.
