Norma Sass have won the prestigious Zoom tour competition, played at by:Larm, been one the first bands booked for Øya in ‘09 and have toured the length and breadth of Norway. Their E.P. “A Dance of Victory the Morning After” was extremely well received by the press and created enormous anticipation amongst the critics for the band’s future efforts. Norma Sass have since developed into one of the hottest bands from the Norwegian scene. This past Summer the girls at long last went into the studio, for a month long stint to record their debut album with produced Eyvinn Solberg, now slated for release in early 2011. The band deliver their catchy songs in a unorthodox but still obvious way, these are girls who know how to get the best out of their instruments despite their young age. The material and they way the band chose to arrange its constituent parts ably demonstrates that this is a band who have done their homework and one which wears their heart’s on their sleeves. Their songs have a wonderful ability to seem happy but still feel a little sad, or be quite sad but still appear quite happy.
