Imagine a more downbeat Cat Power, Joanna Newsom, Jose Gonzales or Ane Brun. At the point where these artists meet is Agnes Obel, a Danish singer / songwriter now residing in Berlin. With snippets of folk, jazz and classical also helping form her sound, Agnes is an artist with her own distinct take on the genre. Her debut album “Philharmonics” was released in Europe in October and has had great reviews across the board. This bedroom produced L.P. is both original and immediate and is ably demonstrates Obel’s simply immense talent.
