“As I write the bass rumbles, Of Norway’s new record is on repeat on my iTunes. You know, the kind of lick that could almost be described as autistic” – Nils Noa, Natt og Dag (top Norwegian prog DJ in Oslo’s hipster freesheet). Of Norway are well known to not only Norwegian dance heads but also festival crowds and the gang at NRK P3. The band describe their sound as “like getting lost in the Norwegian woods”. It is a sometimes warm, sometimes cool world of crackles, clicks and bleeps which mix stripped-back electronic sounds with the exotic, exquisite sound of modern life. The music, released on labels such as Darkroom Dubs, Connaisseur, Dialect and Afro Art to name a few, has already found favour amongst a variety of top drawer international DJs. “Lil’Wolf and Chris Lynch describe their music as the sound of “being lost in the woods in Norway”, and they certainly build up a tangible world of clicks, tweaks and burps – from an evening tide washing up on a beach of shingles, to the chattering of insect life in the forest floor, their house-tinged soundscapes are redolent and absorbing” (NoMusicMedia, on Of Norway live)
